Mother Nature has been kind to us these past few weeks and blessed us with some pretty fabulous weather. The Pacific Northwest is known for rain and people that are not from here are truly unaware of just how gorgeous (and hot!) it can be during the warm weather months. Whether you are visiting, live in town or in Whatcom County, here are a few ideas to enjoy in Lynden during Spring and Summer.

Raspberry Ridge and Homestead Golf & Country Club are two local courses that will please any golfer. Homestead is the only Washington golf course that has a par 5 that plays into an island green. This resort course has something for everyone with wide landing areas, multiple teas and hidden hazards for the expert players. Right now, you can get 5 beginner lessons for $99. Raspberry Ridge can be played all year around and has served Whatcom County for 31 years. Known for its great drainage, Mt. Baker views and open fairways, this course features a restaurant, club house and more.
Go Shopping
Lynden features a very modern "Main Street USA" vibe, but incorporates a dutch twist. Head to historic Front street and enjoy shopping, dining, museums and so much more all on one darling little strip. Us Washington locals love our Nordstroms, but can't always make it down south to shop. The perfect fix for that is Cheeks. This cute boutique features premium denim and desinger labels. If the guys in the group can't be convinced to sit still for a women's shopping excursion, send them over to Dave's Sporting Goods. If you have worked up an appetite from walking around all the cute little stores, there are plenty of eateries and dining options next door. The Mill features a posh vibe and gourmet food and craft cocktails while Overflow Taps gives the beer buff a great place to relax and enjoy some unique brews. Simply want a sandwich or a pastry? Check out Avenue Bread or the Lynden Dutch Bakery. Other spots to shop in Lynden are Fair Square Shopping Center, Bender Plaza, Lynden Town Plaza, Fairway Shopping Center and the Market Place at Lynden.
Go Play Oustide
Berthusen Park features old growth cedars and the National Historic Berthusen Barn. This structure is over 100 years old. You can walk, run, bike or push the little ones in a stroller. Every August, this park becomes home to the Antique Tractor & Machinery Show. Want another option to bike, walk or run? Jim Kaemingk Sr. Trail is another local favorite.
Check out Local Farms
Edaleen Dairy is a favorite and it isn't hard to see why. Fresh milk, ice cream and juice are available for purchase. Bellewood Acres is another hot spot for Whatcom County locals and visitors alike. During the fall, folks look forward to apple picking and the pumpkin patch. There is also a market that features apple cider, artisan cheese, their famous peanut butter and more. The Country Cafe & Bakery has fresh pastries, gourmet burgers, salads and craft cocktails. Through out the year they host specials events and activities like concerts, 5k's and great activities for Mother's Day & Father's Day.
